I believe when something is on your heart and it is good, then it needs to be shared. My 7 year old son recently finished his 2 1/2 year chemo treatment. Over the past 2 months, life as we know it has been quickly transitioning to life as we knew it. This has come with its own set of obstacles and worries, such as securing a new pediatrician rather than leaning on his oncologist. Aches, pains and fevers are not as worrisome to his healthcare team now, but are constant reminders to me of when it all started and what his little body has been through. They say the further away we get from treatment, the easier our new normal will become.
Amongst the new territory we are navigating, the best Christmas gift I have received this year is peace. As I was sitting at a table, eating lunch my husband and kids the other day, I felt an overwhelming sense of contentment. To quote the Eagles song, it was such a peaceful, easy feeling. I’m not sure there is anything better than feeling peace at home, in our health, in careers and in relationships with friends and family. We are all too aware that tomorrow is not guaranteed and situations can change in an instant. Struggles will come and they will go. I believe, if allowed, those struggles can set the stage for a whole new level of thankfulness and peace within our hearts.
Whether you’re in the midst of the worst storm of your life or the dust is still settling from a recent fiery trial, I want you to know you are loved. The One who created you and has known you since the beginning is with you. He can fill you with His love, joy, peace and thankfulness this Christmas season. All you have to do is accept His invitation and let Him into your heart.
Merry Christmas, my fellow T-Shirt & Yoga pants friends! I pray each of you have a blessed holiday season and may 2017 be your best year, yet!
